Ricardo Vieira, a Portuguese pianist from Santa Maria da Feira, embodies an exceptional musical and educational journey marked by artistic achievements, educational dedication, and a profound passion for music.

 

Education and Artistic

Development Ricardo began his musical studies at the Music Academy of Santa Maria da Feira. At the age of 16, he made a remarkable debut as a soloist with an orchestra at the S. Luiz Theatre in Lisbon, marking a promising start to his career. In 2004, he joined ESART in Castelo Branco, where he refined his skills under renowned professors such as Caio Pagano and Paulo Alvares. He broadened his musical perspective by studying chamber music with distinguished figures like Daniel Rowland and Luisa Tender.

 

In 2009, he joined the École Normale de Musique de Paris, while simultaneously studying with the legendary Paul Badura-Skoda. This collaboration significantly enhanced his artistic sensitivity and pianistic mastery. Ricardo also deepened his knowledge through masterclasses with celebrated masters such as Vitalij Margulis and Mikahil Voskresensky.

 

Artistic Career

Renowned for his versatility and expressiveness, Ricardo excels as a soloist and chamber musician. Since 2006, he has performed with the Duo Musicorba, alongside Japanese pianist Tomohiro Hatta. Together, they have graced prestigious festivals and iconic venues such as Tribeca Hall in New York and the Olympia in Paris. Their recent 2024 tour in China, dedicated to the music of Studio Ghibli, highlights their ability to captivate international audiences and their commitment to innovative artistic projects.

 

Cultural Commitment Ricardo stands out as an ambassador of Portuguese culture. Living in France, he created a festival entirely dedicated to promoting Portuguese arts, supported by the Portuguese Embassy and leading cultural figures. His cultural contributions have been highlighted by media outlets such as Lusojornal and RFI. He also participated in the 50th-anniversary celebrations of the Carnation Revolution, organized by the State Secretariat for Portuguese Communities.

 

Educational Journey

A passionate educator, Ricardo earned first place in the French public service competition with a perfect score in the oral exams. Currently, he teaches at the University Paris-Nanterre and the Collège Les Grands Champs in Poissy. He collaborates with institutions like ARTE and the Maîtrise Radio France to create innovative educational content.

 

His pedagogical influence extends to nurturing young talents and engaging in pioneering projects. As a member of the Pedagogical Experimentation Group (GEP) of the Versailles Academy and a Digital Academic Liaison, he contributes to modernizing educational approaches in music.

 

Awards and Contributions

Ricardo has received several prestigious accolades, including the Diploma of Merit - Innovator of the Portuguese Diaspora. He was also named "Star Teacher" in France and awarded the Francophonie Prize. His short film project with students, presented at the Cannes Festival, was praised by the President of the French Delegation to UNESCO.

 

In 2024, the Expresso newspaper ranked him among the “50 Portuguese personalities who will shape Portugal's future for the next 50 years,” highlighting his lasting impact on culture and education.
