Formed in 2010 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship between Portugal and Japan, Duo MusicOrba brings together pianists Ricardo Vieira (Portugal) and Tomohiro Hatta (Japan), both based in Paris. Since its inception, MusicOrba has become one of the most fascinating and iconic four-hand piano ensembles on the international music scene.
Duo MusicOrba has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, from the Olympia in Paris to the Tribeca Theatre in New York, marking its presence in major cultural events. In 2017, the duo was invited to perform in Paphos, the European Capital of Culture, for a memorable concert as part of the Pafos2017 program. The following year, they captivated Chinese audiences during the “MusicOrba China Tour,” with over 20 concerts in the country’s top venues, receiving extensive international media coverage and solidifying their reputation as ambassadors of classical music.
With a unique approach blending tradition and innovation, Duo MusicOrba celebrates the cultural richness of their home countries while exploring diverse repertoires ranging from classical masterpieces to modern compositions. Duo MusicOrba has collaborated with internationally acclaimed singers, including prominent voices in fado, such as Katia Guerreiro and Mísia. Their projects include a live CD/DVD recording at the Olympia in Paris. In August 2024, they undertook a tour in China dedicated to the music of Studio Ghibli, achieving great success and attracting a wide audience.
Beyond their stage performances, Ricardo Vieira and Tomohiro Hatta are deeply committed to sharing their passion for music. They regularly lead masterclasses worldwide, sharing their expertise and inspiring young pianists from various cultures.
